Choosing The Right Shoes
March 22, 2010 in Conditions & Treatments
Did you know there are 7000 nerve endings in your feet? With the average person walking between eight and ten thousand steps per day, all those nerve endings can take a beating.
Naturalizer’s Reflexologist Michelle Kluck Ebbin says that because the pressure of each step directly affects the rest of your body, it’s important to wear comfortable, supportive, lightweight shoes.
Here are 5 things to look for in choosing the right shoes:
- Find shoes with a breathable lining to keep your feet cool and comfortable
- Look for shoes that keep the weight off the balls of your feet. Look for ergonomic heel shapes and heights that let you walk without teetering
- Featherweight outsoles lighten every step. The lighter the shoe, the less pressure on your feet – and the better you feel
- No more breaking in shoes. Choose insoles designed for ultimate flexibility – flexible soles mean more comfort and more mobility
- Choose shoes with extra cushioning under foot to soften impact. You should be able to walk for 15 minutes without feeling discomfort or pressure.
